Youth Backpacking at St. Francis held on Sunday, March 18

Continuing the practice of ‘interfaith packings’ to prepare bags of food for hungry children for the weekends, youth from several faith congregations met at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Sunday, March 18.  This marked the second youth packing of the year with the first being held at St. Andrew’s.  The group of adults who run the St. Francis packing site assembled at 12:30 PM and opened cartons of food and set them on tables.  The youth arrived at 1:30 and began a fast moving assembly line of collecting nine food products and placed filled bags on a table for adults to inspect and pack into bins.  The filled bins will be delivered to the three Island elementary schools on Thursday — just in time for going home on Friday.  The youth enjoyed their time together and making new friends.  The adults appreciated their energy and commitment to helping fellow students.
